Mills steps into conflict over Scruggs questioning

Famed Oxford attorney Richard “Dickie” Scruggs may still be hearing questions from State Farm Insurance attorneys as you eat your breakfast.

While that seems unlikely, Chief Judge Michael P. Mills probably wouldn’t care if he were.

Friday, Mills ordered Scruggs to make himself available for State Farm questions in its case against Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood, a longtime Scruggs ally. Mills set 5 p.m. Monday as the deadline for the work to be completed.

But Scruggs’ and State Farm’s attorneys bickered all weekend, court records show.
