“Everybody knows about Travis Childers,” he said from Pepsi Center on Monday night. “They know all about the race” and are keeping up with its latest permutation – the Nov. 4 general election against Davis, Southaven’s mayor.
Childers is a former Prentiss County chancery clerk and Booneville businessman.
Jones, a Pontotoc High grad of 1998, also said Mississippi delegation seats are right next to the VIP section near the stage and he’s seen lots of the politically famous, from Sens. John Kerry and Chris Dodd to Gov. Bill Richardson.
Jones, a 28-year-old lawyer who’s moving soon from Ridgeland to Tupelo, is the son of Linda Jones and grandson of Helen Gregory of Pontotoc.
Childers, who bills himself a conservative Democrat, avoided the national spotlight in Denver and will address the annual Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway Development Opportunities Conference in Mobile on Wednesday.
