Dogs appear ready to land 2nd big man

STARKVILLE — Mississippi State received its second commitment from a high-profile, well-traveled big man in less than a week Monday in the person of 7-foot-1 Sudan native John Riek.
It also spent much of Monday digesting some 2,000 words written in a newspaper some 2,000 miles away from home, and any impact they’ll have toward the eligibility of the other big man, Renardo Sidney.
The Los Angeles Times’ story questioned how the Sidneys – who are originally from Jackson – paid their rent and how his father funded his son’s summer basketball team. The Sidneys’ lawyer, Donald Jackson, criticized the story and said he was confident Sidney’s eligibility will survive the school’s evaluation of his amateur status.
