Hattiesburg, Miss- The City of Hattiesburg will be hosting a delegation from Ladysmith, South Africa from Wednesday, November 17, 2010 until Saturday, November 20, 2010. The delegation will include Mayor Dudu Mazibuko, members of her office, and six business leaders of Ladysmith.
Mayor Johnny L. DuPree extended an invitation to Hattiesburg earlier this year with a vision of developing partnerships between the cities through economic development and education. “It is by taking opportunities such as these, not only are we able to support cities like Ladysmith, we are also learning of ways to improve Hattiesburg. When we expand our resources it has always been beneficial to both parties involved,” said Mayor DuPree.
During the delegation’s visit to Hattiesburg, Mayor DuPree will showcase the local higher education opportunities that are available for students from Kwazulu Natal University by visiting the University of Southern Mississippi and William Carey University. The City of Hattiesburg will also host an Economic Summit at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, November 19, 2010 at the Lake Terrace Convention Center. The summit will include the Ladysmith, South Africa Delegation, ADP, Pinebelt Mayors’ Association, The University of Southern Mississippi, William Carey University, and local business leaders.
