Editorial: Palazzo was a long shot but not a novice

Steven Palazzo, who ousted the incumbent in Tuesday’s GOP sweep of the country, began the race as a long shot after his primary victory over Tea Party candidate Joe Tegerdine, who eventually tossed his support to Mr. Taylor.
But though he was the underdog, Mr. Palazzo was no novice. A successful businessman, soldier and three-year state representative, he delivered a traditional conservative message of lower taxes, support for the nation’s military and a much-needed reduction in the size of government.
