Entergy seeking hike

Entergy Mississippi customers could see an increase to their power bills later this year as the utility tries to cover the costs of restoring power after large-scale severe weather events.

The company has filed a request with the state Public Service Commission to increase the level of monthly accruals to its storm damage rider from $750,000 to $1.75 million and boost its storm reserve cap from $15 million to $25 million.

If those increases are approved, the bill of an average residential customer – one that uses 1,000 kilowatt hours per month – would increase by $1.44 per month.
