Former MDOC head Chris Epps set to learn fate Tuesday

The man who saw thousands of people locked up in his role as Mississippi’s longest serving corrections commissioner is scheduled to learn Tuesday how many years he will spend in a federal prison for being part of one of the largest corruption schemes in state history.

Chris Epps was the popular commissioner of the Mississippi Department of Corrections until it all came crashing down in November when a 49-count federal indictment against him and co-conspirator Cecil McCrory, a Rankin County businessman, was announced.
