Ethics and Medicaid — a politically volatile mix

The Medicaid standoff continues, with the focus now on GOP efforts to have six Republican lawmakers who abstained from voting because of potential conflicts of interest (they work for companies that receive Medicaid funds), vote if a special session is called.

But here’s some blistering comments from state Democratic Party Chairman Rickey Cole, who’s mightily miffed by the Republican effort, and Rep. Becky Currie, a nurse who abstained from voting in regular session, but says she doesn’t believe she should have to.
