While the state Ethics Commission has approved Gov. Haley Barbour’s decision to put his financial assets in a blind trust, the commission says the issue in general is one for the state Legislature to define.

The commission, through its executive director, Tom Hood, recently responded to questions from the Daily Journal concerning Barbour’s blind trust.

In a blind trust, using the federal model, an officeholder turns his assets over to a trustee to manage and the officeholder does not know what his financial holdings are.
