When LaDainian Tomlinson was a senior at Waco University High School, he wrote his mother a letter. In it, he made her three promises: He was going to college; he was going to play in the NFL; and he was going to make her the proudest mother in the world.
Now, nine years removed from a record-setting career at TCU, and the eighth all-time leading rusher in NFL history, Tomlinson has lived up to his pledge.
“He has accomplished that and then some,” said Loreane Tomlinson, who splits time between her home in Fort Worth and San Diego. “It’s not so much that he’s a good football player, but more that he’s a decent, humble young man. He’s become a good football player and an even better person.”
