MDWFP head gets $20k raise

The Commission on Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks recently approved a pay increase for the executive director of Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks.

According to the Mississippi State Personnel Board, the salary range for the job started at $92,796.81 and topped out at $120,635.85. Sam Polles, who has occupied the position since 1992, was making $126,667.65. MSPB noted Polles’ compensation exceeded the salary cap due to legislative action.

Commission chairman Billy Deviney said the pay did not match the responsibilities associated with the position.
