Gene Chizik’s reputation is growing fast. The Montgomery Quarter back Club is struggling to keep pace.
Auburn’s head coach elicited a capacity crowd for the club’s awards banquet at the Mont gomery Country Club on Tues day night. Fans stood in line for 30 minutes apiece to shake hands with the first-year coach, who was considered a dubious hire 14 months ago.
Now? Not so much.
“The energy is what gets me. There’s so much energy in this room,” said Tim James, the for mer Tigers fullback who now is running for governor. “Every one is excited because Auburn is playing the way it’s supposed to play. Chizik has brought a new energy. You can feel it in here tonight.”
Chizik feels it everywhere.
