First campaign reports of 2010 due soon

Fourth-quarter financial reports are due early next week by candidates for federal office this year.

It’s the cash-on-hand that will offer insights into how much money these campaigns really have. Late last week, announced candidates U.S. Rep. Travis Childers of Booneville and state Sen. Alan Nunnelee of Tupelo were quick to report what they’ve done so far.

Nunnelee, a Republican, said he’d raised $420,000 in the first five months of his campaign with more than $201,000 coming in the fourth quarter of 2009.
