Fitch wants financial literacy taught in all schools

Mississippi’s state treasurer would like to see schools teaching more than the traditional reading, writing and ‘rithmetic…she wants financial literacy to be part of the curriculum as well. Lynn Fitch says the state should mandate the teaching of financial literacy in high school.

She made those comments during a monthly meeting of Forrest-Lamar Republican Women Tuesday.

She says only 10 states require classes in finance in public schools and she’d like Mississippi to follow their lead.
