Judge Senter to State Farm: Brevity is the soul of wit.

Folks who have been following the Katrina cases have noticed that Judge Senter’s orders tend to say what they need to say and not add any unnecessary verbiage, to an unusual degree.

Well, Judge Senter seems to follow a kind of golden rule. If he can write with brevity and clarity, so can the lawyers addressing him. So today, when the State Farm lawyers in McIntosh asked to file reply briefs exceeding the local rule page limitations, he not only said no, he instructed the clerks to strike their briefs from the docket. Now State Farm gets a do-over.
