Ex-senator set to plead guilty in Jackson County embezzlement case

Former state senator Tommy Robertson is expected to plead guilty Monday to embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Robertson, 59, has a plea hearing at 10 a.m. before Special Judge Richard McKenzie in Jackson County Circuit Court. Sentencing will be deferred in the case to give authorities time to prepare a pre-sentence investigative report….

…Robertson was using his position as a board attorney for Singing River Credit Union to embezzle $484,092 in loan proceeds, which he held in trust for the purpose of distributing funds in accordance with the applicable loan statements, Jackson County District Attorney Tony Lawrence said early on.
