Bobby Bowden was raised on Alabama football.
He went to games with his dad as a kid. He created a scrapbook of Alabama photos and newspaper articles. He idolized Bear Bryant and did his best Bryant impression when interviewing for the Alabama job in 1986.
The last time Bowden watched an Alabama game in Tuscaloosa as a spectator was 1948, sitting on the Crimson Tide’s bench as a high school senior. In 1965, Bowden coached a game against Alabama there as a Florida State assistant.
