Thank you, Dave Hart.
Belatedly, but befittingly.
Thank you for bringing FSU’s athletic program out of its caveman era when football was all that mattered in Tallahassee and everything else was ignored. Thank you for making sure the soccer field is as state-of-the-art as the football stadium. Thank you for paying more than lip service to gender equity and for making the good ol’ boys see the wisdom in investing in a bunch of fine young women.
“There’s a sense of pride — shared pride — in the comprehensive excellence of Florida State’s athletic program,” Hart says.
Dave Hart is gone now, run out of his job as FSU’s longtime athletic director because of a personality conflict with school president T.K. Wetherell. But he left something behind — an across-the-board athletic program that is one of the best in the nation (and an academic fraud case that will be heard by the NCAA in October).
