1. Teacher raise
The House and Senate have gotten all sideways with dueling proposals. Let the haggling begin. But it would appear teachers will be getting a raise when the dust settles. If one-upmanship ensues between the House and Senate, the amount of that raise might grow.
2. MAEP funding
The push for more public education funding picked up some bipartisan momentum last week. The Senate voted 26-24 to add $60 million to the Mississippi Adequate Education Program. Nine Republicans sided with the Democratic minority.
