STATEMENT OF GOV. BARBOUR ON FEBRUARY REVENUES

“As of today, Mississippi’s preliminary February revenue collections missed the estimate by 2.15 percent. The state collected $228.8 million, which was $5 million below the Sine Die estimate for the month. As I have said previously, full recovery from this global economic recession will not be swift. We must plan for several years of slow revenue growth and budget for our priorities. This slow recovery plus the loss of hundreds of millions of stimulus dollars means state government must operate like so many Mississippi families and cut back on spending.”
