Washington (CNN) – Following in the footsteps of other likely GOP presidential candidates, Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour is headed to Israel next week.
Like Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee before him, Barbour will meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and will tour various energy-related sites in the country, according to the Republican Jewish Coalition, which is hosting the trip. At the end of the four-day visit, Barbour will address the Herzliya Conference, a gathering that focuses on Israel’s global policy.
“This visit will give Governor Barbour the opportunity to learn more about the difficulties facing Israel, about the current thinking of Israel’s political, military, and economic leaders, and about the Jewish state’s exciting advancements in the development of new technologies,” RJC Executive Director Matt Brooks said in a statement.
