Mississippi wants former students to finish degrees

Leaders of Mississippi’s universities and community colleges announced a plan to encourage people to complete college degrees.

The Complete 2 Compete program is aimed at people who started college but never earned a degree or certificate.

Gov. Phil Bryant said Thursday at a College Board meeting that the state could use workforce training money and grants to fund an estimated $1.5 million cost, but said students could have to pay for needed classes.
