Republican bigwig Haley Barbour came out Friday against plans by Republican state legislators around the country to hand out electoral votes by congressional district, and insisted there was no “big Republican conspiracy” to rig elections.
“I’m a traditionalist myself,” Barbour said on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports.” “I really am a conservative. I’m skeptical of this, but I’m also a little skeptical that you can’t predict with any sort of precision who it will help from one presidential election to the other. I like it the way it is. And as I say, I’m — I am more of a traditionalist conservative, and if people want to do that, it’s obvious that states have the right to do that. Nebraska has done it. Maine’s done it.”
