PASCAGOULA, Mississippi — Mississippi’s governor and first lady joined 29 representatives from across the state for Excel By 5’s annual summit in Madison on Wednesday.
“I think the summit was an overwhelming success,” Bob Clay, executive director of Excel By 5, said, immediately after the event.
“We had over 130 people here at the summit that participate from the 29 communities that are onboard with Excel by 5,” he said. “Overall, it was a great success.”
Excel By 5, which was jump-started by a $650,000 grant from Chevron, is a collaborative model designed to optimize existing resources while highlighting the role that communities play in educating children during their most formative years, from birth to 5 years.
