Some political observations while wondering if voters realize they have some big decisions to make in only 16 days:
•One of the bright spots in the otherwise lackluster statewide election year has been the race for state treasurer. There usually is not a lot of attention paid to this office, but voters should take note of the quality of the two major party candidates for treasurer.
Republican Lynn Fitch and Democrat Connie Moran are two of the more qualified candidates seeking any statewide positions this year.
Fitch of Madison is a bond attorney, former assistant attorney general and has headed the powerful and politically tricky State Personnel Board. She has extensive state government and finance experience.
