The Meridian Star, 8/29/7

Rural health care and telemedicine pilot programs were among topics at Tuesday’s Health Care Summit at the MSU Riley Center.

Hosted by U.S. Rep. Chip Pickering, the two-hour session was designed to improve health care access and health service, targeting the health care communities of Lauderdale, Kemper, Newton, Neshoba, Noxubee, Winston, Scott, Simpson and Smith counties.

“Meridian is the hub in health care for East Mississippi and West Alabama,” Pickering said. “Health care is the largest employer in Lauderdale County. It provides not only the saving, healing and prevention, but in many ways it is the institute that brings all of our institutions together.”
