Call Congressman Childers Today!

The future of our country is more important than any party’s political agenda. I am asking you to contact your Representative in Washington and pressure him to vote against the healthcare measure in any and all forms. There is no time to waste. Some accounts show that Democrats are only four votes shy of having the necessary votes for passage. ABC News and the Politco are reporting that Congressman Travis Childers is on the short list of Members of Congress who are most likely to switch their previous NO vote to YES on healthcare reform. Democratic leadership is employing several tricks to pass the healthcare bill. The first trick is passing the Senate version through the house and reconciling any changes with only a simple majority – a deplorable method side-stepping Senate rules to impose government run healthcare on America. The second method, known as the “self-executing rule” completely circumvents the constitutional requirements for Congressional votes. The “self-executing rule” allows House Democrats to pass healthcare reform without an up or down vote and therefore, in theory, shields them from election backlash this November. The White House is also playing political games. The President is promising to reward loyal Democrats with plush positions in his Administration if they are willing to sacrifice their seat in Congress for the passage of healthcare reform. The President is also threatening to not campaign for embattled Members of Congress unless they tote the party line on healthcare reform. The President has set a deadline of March 21 for final passage.

We must work together to prevent the devastating impact this $940 billion legislation will place on our healthcare system. I urge you to call Travis Childers today and demand he stand up for North Mississippians and say NO to political trickery and NO to bad public policy before it is too late!
