Jackson streets reopen after bomb scare

Police have in custody a homeless man who said he left his duffel bag outside the Women’s Health Organization in Jackson.

Several Fondren streets were closed after the suspicious package was reported this afternoon. Police said the package contained clothing and personal items. The area has been cleared and streets have been opened.

According to police, the package was reported about 2 p.m., and the Jackson Police Department’s bomb squad has been activated.
