House rules change proposed

After the inauguration ceremony, the House Rules Committee met briefly today to discuss permanent rules for the new term.

As we mentioned in an earlier blog post, there has been some discussion at the Capitol about the rules regarding the make-up of the Ways & Means Committee and the Appropriations Committee. Under the old rules, Democrats stood to possibly get a large number of appointments to each because of a seniority requirement and the fact that the appointments were dependent on the old congressional districts.
