Obama campaign field director Aaron Gardner said the campaign will reopen its downtown Jackson office in the coming weeks.
There are three staffers working in Jackson now, and Gardner said he expects “lots more,” though he could not give a specific figure.
Dean told supporters at the voter registration rally that even if Obama doesn’t take Mississippi, their efforts would help Democratic candidates former Gov. Ronnie Musgrove and former state Rep. Erik Fleming in their Senate races this fall against Republicans.
Fleming faces Sen. Thad Cochran. Musgrove faces Sen. Roger Wicker, who was appointed to fill retired Sen. Trent Lott’s seat.
Wicker will hold a voter registration drive at 3 p.m. today at the Courthouse Racquet and Fitness Club at 300 Lake Circle in the Cypress Lake subdivision in Madison.
