The caller had a strange political question. She admitted as much sort of sheepishly saying, “I know this sounds crazy, but I am am serious.”

I learned a long time ago that there are no crazy questions when it comes to Mississippi politics. “OK, shoot,” I said.

“Can you tell me the difference between the Democratic and the Republican parties?”

I started to answer, then had to pause. I write about politics every day, but a straight up question on the difference between the Republican and Democratic parties state and locally is a good question.
