The last, best hope Democrats had of finding a way to somehow retain the Mississippi House ended Tuesday in Jackson County.
Republican Charles Busby has now been certified the winner over House District 111 incumbent Democrat Rep. Brandon Jones, officially giving House Republicans that 64 number they had already promoted.
House Democrats look to have 58 seats as of now and rumblings of other party switchers are increasing. The Republican majority could swell as we approach January.
Word is also out there that some Democrats may come out and support the Republican Speaker nominee Phillip Gunn just as Rep. George Flaggs has committed to do.
The only question left for House Democrats is if they will finally accept reality and begin cleaning out their offices at the Capitol. With 140 years of Democratic control in the House, U-Haul is going to be very busy over the next few weeks.
