Jackson County supports Sen. Brice Wiggins’ bill to open up community hospital meetings

PASCAGOULA, Mississippi — Jackson County supervisors voted 4-1 today to support Senate Bill 2407, a measure introduced by state Sen. Brice Wiggins to help boost transparency and combat the various reasons for Singing River Health System’s financial stress.

Board of Supervisors President Barry Cumbest was the sole vote against supporting the resolution.

“We don’t know where were at with the hospital,” he said. “I hate to see us pass bills and us not know everything we need to know about it. I don’t think this is good for us to do right now.”
