Johnny DuPree’s attorneys issue response to David Ware’s latest mayoral challenge; hearing Thursday morning

Attorneys for Hattiesburg mayor Johnny DuPree, in a response to the latest challenge by independent challenger David Ware, say the jury foreman likely made a counting error and there never was a 9-3 tally in the election fraud trial, according to a WDAM report.
Judge William Coleman will preside over a hearing Thursday morning at 11 a.m. on a request by Ware’s attorney to honor the 9-3 vote in his favor to be the city’s next mayor.

Initially, jurors returned a 9-3 verdict but when polled in open court, the count was 8-4. Coleman ordered more deliberations and when they returned with another 8-4 verdict, a mistrial was declared.
