Downtown hotel deal nixed

Controversy arose last month when JRA attempted to abbreviate the standard process for reviewing proposals to meet the Dec. 31 deadline for GO-Zone funds.

Longtime JRA general counsel Zach Taylor, who had removed himself from any future dealings related to the project, continued to raise concerns about the legality of the shortened process.

Taylor stressed his misgivings were not meant to question the board’s integrity.

“Well, kinda,” quipped board member Benita Burt in response.
