According to an order entered in court today, Jackson Mayor Frank Melton may again be armed — but only at his home.
The order was filed in Hinds County Circuit Court by retired Coahoma County Judge Joe Webster who presided over Melton’s criminal trial in April. Webster also oversees the mayor’s probation on three misdemeanor gun charges, to which the mayor pleaded no contest and guilty in November 2006 and was given a year of probation.
The order clears up the provisions of the mayor’s probation. It also states the mayor can supervise minors and does not have to abide by a curfew.
