Kiffin completes staff, focus turns to recruiting
Tennessee head football coach Lane Kiffin welcomed several new additions to his football staff last week and also added a future Vol quarterback in the bargain. Kiffin kept his promise to bring in a staff of assistants that would be the most impressive array of recruiters in all of college football.
In the midst of configuring his staff, the young Tennessee head man took time out to fly to California and welcome his first son, Monte Knox Kiffin, into the world. Apparently, the boy will be called Knox Kiffin, quite appropriate don’t you think? Kiffin’s wife Layla and the eight-pound, eight-ounce baby are said to be doing well and should be in Knoxville within the next few days.
Moving quickly beginning around the middle of last week, Coach Kiffin added the final pieces of the coaching puzzle to his star-studded staff. The first hire announced was Eddie Gran, the former Auburn running backs coach who had been with Tommy Tuberville at both Ole Miss and then for the last 10 years down on the south Alabama plains. The final three additions came quickly and were on hand over the weekend to greet visiting prospects.
