Noxubee County receiver Patrick Patterson and his mother have kept their little secret all to themselves the past two weeks.
Patterson decided it was time to reveal it, so on Saturday he informed Mississippi State football coach Sylvester Croom that he was committing to play for the Bulldogs in 2009.
“When I told him I was going to be a Bulldog, his eyes got real big,” said Patterson, who will be just 30 minutes away from his hometown of Macon. “I just wanted it to be a surprise. I really liked the coaches there. I wanted to get it over with so I can focus on my senior season. (Being close to home) meant a lot because now a lot of my friends and family can come watch me play.”
