Brandon senator to run for treasurer

A Republican state senator from Brandon is running for state treasurer, a post expected to be vacated by Tate Reeves, reported to be running for another office.

Sen. Lee Yancey announced his intentions Monday along a six-city tour, starting in Brandon and criss-crossing across the state.

Yancey is an investment adviser representative, which the first-term senator said would help him serve as treasurer.

“We need a person who is concerned about fiscal responsibility and integrity,” Yancey said.
