State Treasurer Candidate Senator Lee Yancey Endorsed by the Mississippi Federation for Immigration Reform and Enforcement
After a vote of their board on March 17th, the Mississippi Federation for Immigration Reform and Enforcement (MFIRE), the state’s leading advocacy group for stopping illegal immigration, today announced their endorsement of Senator Lee Yancey for State Treasurer in the August Republican Primary.
“Senator Yancey has been one of the key leaders in our state on the issue of stopping illegal immigration. Illegal immigration costs the taxpayers of Mississippi an estimated 30 to 50 million dollars a year. No issue has greater potential to drain our state treasury than does illegal immigration,” said Mark Mayfield, Vice President of the group. “In 2008, Senator Yancey co-authored and passed tough legislation requiring employers to verify the immigration status of each worker and made it a felony for an illegal immigrant to accept a job in our state. This year, Senator Yancey supported more tough “Arizona-style” reforms. His efforts have saved thousands of Mississippi jobs and protected our state’s treasury. Yancey’s the clear, conservative choice for State Treasurer.”
“I am proud to have earned the endorsement of this great, conservative organization,” said Senator Yancey. “Ultimately, Mississippi Republicans want to know who’s going to be the strongest conservative, once in office, and the MFIRE endorsement is about as conservative as you can get. It’s wonderful endorsements like this – and that of Republican Congressman Gregg Harper this week as well – that give Republican primary voters the information they need to make the right choice for State Treasurer.”
MFIRE has the mission of informing and educating citizens and legislators about the cost and social problems associated with out-of-control illegal immigration.
