Humpty Dumpty told Alice in Through the Looking Glass that when he uses a word “it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.”
LSU defensive lineman Ricky Jean-Francois seems to agree. First he suggested the LSU defense might hit Florida quarterback Tim Tebow so hard he could be knocked Dumpty-like out of Saturday’s game.
Florida coach Urban Meyer took offense. Tebow didn’t. Then LSU issued a statement from Jean-Francois saying he didn’t mean it the way it sounded.
It all started when Jean-Francois told The Orlando Sentinel that a hit from his defense can equate to “a car wreck without a seatbelt. … If we get a good shot on (Tebow), we’re going to try our best to take him out of the game. … If he does get hurt, there’s a trained medical staff at Florida.”
Meyer shot back: “There’s no place for that. You won’t hear anybody say anything like that on this team.”
The quarterback said it was all a tempest in a Tebow.
