LAUREL — Seeking to bolster his collapsing poll numbers, President Obama embarked on a crusade of class warfare last week.
After unusual comments regarding hedge-fund managers and corporate jets, he then turned his attention to American oil and gas producers, insisting that Congress work to eliminate “tax breaks” and incentives for such companies as part of a deal designed to trim the federal deficit.
Specifically, he argued, “If we choose to keep a tax break for oil and gas companies that are making hundreds of millions of dollars, that means we’ve got to cut some kids off from getting a college scholarship and that means we’ve got to stop funding grants for medical research.”
