Plan on a shake-up in the higher ranks of the Jackson Police Department.
Listen closely for military aircraft above the city.
Expect the SWAT team on the streets, backing up a new rapid-response team.
Those are some of Frank Melton’s plans to curb crime in the state’s largest city.
Throughout his political campaign, the mayor-elect promised to round up criminals and now, two weeks before he takes office in Jackson, Melton said delivering on those promises will take dramatic changes within JPD.
“I’m not going to lie about it. I’m going to be heavily, heavily involved in the Police Department,” he said.
