A newly revealed document could play a role in a lawsuit expected to explore how much then-Franklin County Sheriff Wayne Hutto cooperated with the Ku Klux Klan in violence that took place in 1964 and beyond.

On May 2, 1964, Klansmen reportedly abducted two black teenagers from Franklin County – Henry Hezekiah Dee and Charles Eddie Moore – before beating and killing them.

The Dee and Moore families are now suing Franklin County, claiming Hutto, who died in 1984, helped cover up the crime.

No trial date has been set.
