Florida coach Urban Meyer reasserted last weekend that he is not interested in leaving the Gators for Notre Dame, the Gainesville Sun reports.
“I’m not going to Notre Dame. Ever,” Meyer said Saturday at a charity golf tournament, according to the report. “I’m going to be the coach at Florida for a long time, as long as they want me.”
Meyer’s announcement was at least partly a response to a column by the Mobile Press-Register’s Paul Finebaum, who last week said the coach would leave Florida for South Bend after this season. In May, former Florida coach Steve Spurrier suggested on Finebaum’s radio show that Meyer might want to coach the Irish.
