Scruggs II trial– about setting aside Dickie Scruggs’s plea– set for Monday in Oxford

Judge Davidson has moved the hearing in Scruggs II to Oxford, and it will start on Monday.

The issue is “actual innocence” to the charge of bribing Judge DeLaughter. A huge range of the players in that case– Ed Peters, Joey Langston, Sid Backstrom, Bobby DeLaughter– could well testify, although Scruggs’s lawyers have stated in a motion that DeLaughter is expected to take the Fifth Amendment to any questions he is asked.
