Miss. GOP delegates gear up for convention

Mississippi Republicans hope their party will use this week’s national convention to focus on the need to create more jobs and reduce federal spending.

“This is a time for us to come together as a unified team and really look at the issues that are affecting the American people,” said Lynn Fitch, the state treasurer and co-chairman of the Republican National Committee’s platform panel on the Economy, Jobs and Debt. “Certainly, jobs and the creation of jobs and retention of jobs is at the forefront.”

Fitch was expected to be among more than 2,000 Republican delegates from across the country attending the GOP convention in Tampa, Fla.
