Mississippi Democratic Trust ‘starts work in earnest,’ plans to name key staffers

PASCAGOULA, Mississippi — The Mississippi Democratic Trust, an organization formed more than a year ago by a pair of Jackson attorneys and chaired by local attorney Brandon Jones, began its work in earnest this month and plans to name several new staffers later this week, according to Jones.

Jones, who was ousted from his House District 111 seat by Republican Charles Busby in the November elections, sent out his first press release as chairman last week. It called for a shorter legislative session in an effort to save money.

“It’s been an exciting few days as I’ve received calls from people across the state who want to roll up their sleeves and start working to make Mississippi better,” Jones said in an e-mail.
