House votes for Republican Tullos, unseats Eaton

The Republican-controlled House voted late Wednesday, mostly along party lines, to unseat longtime Democratic state Rep. Bo Eaton and name Republican challenger Mark Tullos the winner of the District 79 seat.

The move gives Republicans a three-fifths supermajority of 74 in the 122-member chamber….

…However, he wasn’t able to convince enough Republican members to vote to keep him in the seat. Only two Republicans, Steve Horne of Meridian and William Shirley of Quitman, voted against the motion to unseat Eaton. One Democrat, Angela Cockerham, D-Magnolia, voted for the motion to unseat Eaton.
