Mississippi State Joins Select Company

There are four SEC teams with seven wins. Three you know: Auburn, L.S.U. and Alabama. The fourth might surprise you: Mississippi State. Yes, the Bulldogs, in year two under Dan Mullen, are 7-2, 3-2 in conference play, with losses to two of those teams above — L.S.U. and Auburn. You can cite a weaker SEC for Mississippi State’s revival; you can credit a weak non-conference schedule; you can point to a down year for Georgia and Florida, two teams that typically handle the Bulldogs. You can look down on M.S.U., but you’d be missing the point.
